Role Outline

We are recruiting for a Security Operations Centre (SOC) Analyst to help expand our SOC coverage, maturity and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

•    Constantly monitor security systems and networks for suspicious activity, unusual patterns or potential security breaches.
•    Investigate security alerts, assess their severity, and take appropriate actions to contain and eradicate threats, often following established incident response methodologies. 
•    Analyse security events, identify the root cause of incidents, and determine the potential impact on the organisation. 
•    Identify security weaknesses and vulnerabilities in systems and applications and recommend mitigation measures to address them. 
•    Maintain detailed records of security incidents, prepare reports for stakeholders, and contribute to the development of security policies and procedures. 
•    Keep up to date with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques, and share this knowledge with the team. 
•    Quickly assess the severity, impact, and scope of potential incidents, prioritising responses. 
•    Take immediate action with the wider engineering team to isolate affected systems, prevent further damage, and neutralise threats. 
•    Tuning and improving the detection capabilities of security tools to enhance their effectiveness. 

What we are looking for

•    Proficiency with Microsoft Sentinel. Microsoft Defender XDR or similar tooling. Understanding of EntraID, operating systems and networking in an Azure/Office365 setting.
•    Ability to analyse security alerts, investigate incidents, and identify potential threats. 
•    Ability to identify the root cause of security incidents and implement effective solutions. 
•    Ability to communicate security incidents and recommendations clearly and concisely to stakeholders. 
•    Familiarity with industry-standard security frameworks such as ISO27001 and general security industry best practice would be an advantage
•    Experience in responding to security incidents as part of an incident response team and implementing containment and eradication procedures. 
•    Understanding of current threat landscape, attack techniques, and malware. 
•    Aptitude to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with other security professionals and are able to self-prioritise workload.

Hours

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Location

This role is home based; therefore you will need to ensure you have a suitable space you can work from at home.
