Role Outline

Health Partners have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to be at the forefront of our Occupational Health Team.

We are able to offer hybrid working and 4 or 5 days a week for this position.

What you'll be doing:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Occupational Health Service.
  • Carrying out Health Surveillance, Audiometry, Spirometry and Fitness for work assessments
  • Providing health education and promotion to the client.
  • Undertaking case management over the phone/in person, producing high standard and quality management advice reports
  • Providing clinical supervision and supporting other team members where less experienced
  • Empowering Occupational Health Nurse advisors to undertake a wider range of clinical activities by ensuring appropriate training, updating and monitoring of relevant training programmes
  • Supporting the OH manager to advise, monitor and assess the clinical practice of the OH team. 
  • Responding to client/manager’s requests for support/information on the working environment. 
  • Maintaining appropriate records in line with departmental protocols on record keeping
  • Taking a senior role in the development and provision of a high profile and pro-active Occupational Health Service
  • Maintaining valid and up to date registration with the NMC and comply with NMC guidelines in relation to professional issues and clinical supervision
  • Promoting equality of opportunity and providing an environment in which the dignity of individuals is respected and free from workplace harassment and bullying. 
  • Undertaking defined projects as agreed with the head of Occupational health to support the delivery of high quality clinically effective care 
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of Health Promotion initiatives in partnership with the wider OH team 
  • Developing good working relationships and maintaining effective communications with client’s managers and other professionals and external contracts 
  • Providing Occupational Health employees with appropriate regular appraisals, ensuring training and development needs are identified and met 

Skills

Qualified or Registered Nurse with a valid NMC PIN, a diploma or degree in Occupational Health is preferable
Experience in a commercial occupational health setting, particularly with exposure to case management and health surveillance
Excellent knowledge of occupational health and employment legislation
Approachable with good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
Approachable, polite and friendly to build and maintain strong working relationships and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment
Adaptable
Ability to demonstrate a flexible and proactive approach to work
IT competency and proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Teams
Demonstrates a clear understanding of professional accountability in the scope of professional practice
Demonstrates a self-motivated and proactive approach to work
Ability to work effectively independently and also within a team framework
Negotiation and motivational skills, ability to accept and deliver constructive feedback

Education & Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Nursing
Diploma in Occupational Health

Certifications

Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration
HCPC registration
